Chelsea transfer news: Gonzalo Higuain’s Stamford Bridge nightmare ending as Blues decide against extending loan deal
Chelsea have decided against extending Gonzalo Higuain’s loan spell and will instead send him back to Juventus this summer, reports claim.Higuain, the Argentina forward, penned a temporary deal with the Blues in January as Maurizio Sarri sought to solve the club’s attacking problems.Higuain has struggled since swapping Italy for England earlier this yeargetty1
Higuain has struggled since swapping Italy for England earlier this year
He was a prolific goal getter while playing under Sarri at Napoli, but the 31-year-old failed to live up to his former self during his time at Stamford Bridge, scoring just five goals in 21 appearances.Higuain could still make one more appearance for Chelsea – in the Europa League final – but he is vying with Olivier Giroud for the starting spot ahead of the Baku showpiece. Even if he finds form against Arsenal to fire Chelsea to silverware, Higuian will still be returning to Juventus this summer.According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have already decided to send Higuain back to his parent club at the end of the season, despite the Blues having the option to either extend the forward’s loan for another season – or buy him outright.

Higuain still has two years remaining on his contract with Juventus, who do not want him back due to his lucrative wage packet. He spent the first half of the season with Milan, before Chelsea secured a deal to end that loan and bring him straight to England at the beginning of the year.
